Frequently Asked Questions

What is SkyGator Aerial Imaging?

SkyGator Aerial Imaging, LLC is a professional drone services company based in Texas, specializing in high-accuracy aerial mapping, thermal imaging, inspections, and photography. We use advanced enterprise drones like the DJI Matrice 4T to deliver precise, actionable data for construction, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and commercial clients.

What areas do you serve?

We primarily serve Southeast Texas and available for projects across Texas and the Gulf Coast region.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. All our pilots are FAA Part 107 certified. We maintain full commercial drone insurance (liability up to $1M) and are fully compliant with all FAA regulations.

Services & Capabilities

We provide:

  • Aerial Mapping & Surveying
  • Orthomosaic Maps & 3D Models
  • Thermal Imaging & Infrared Inspections
  • Construction Progress Monitoring
  • Roof & Solar Panel Inspections
  • Volumetric Stockpile Measurements
  • Agricultural Crop Health Mapping
  • Emergency & Disaster Assessment

Do you specialize in thermal imaging?

Yes. Our DJI Matrice 4T’s high-resolution thermal camera allows us to detect electrical issues, moisture intrusion, insulation problems, and more with professional-grade accuracy.

What drone do you use for mapping?

We primarily use the DJI Matrice 4T — a powerful enterprise drone with RTK positioning, 48MP camera, and 640×512 thermal sensor. This allows us to deliver survey-grade accuracy and thermal mapping in a single flight.

Mapping & Deliverables

How accurate is your drone mapping?

With RTK enabled, we routinely achieve centimeter-level accuracy (typically 2–5 cm horizontal / 5–10 cm vertical), depending on project requirements.

What file formats do you deliver?

Common deliverables include:

  • Orthomosaic (GeoTIFF)
  • 3D Mesh & Point Cloud (.LAS, .OBJ)
  • Digital Surface Model (DSM) & Digital Terrain Model (DTM)
  • Contour Maps
  • Volumetric Calculations (PDF & CSV)
  • Thermal Reports & Overlays

How long does a mapping project take?

Most small to medium sites can be flown in 1–2 days. Data processing and delivery typically take 3–7 business days after flight, depending on project size and required detail.

Pricing & Process

How much do your services cost?

Pricing is project-based. Factors include site size, required accuracy, and deliverables. We offer free quotes — contact us with your location and project details for a fast, transparent estimate.

What is the process like?

  • Initial consultation & scope discussion
  • Flight planning & scheduling
  • On-site data collection
  • Data processing & quality control
  • Delivery of final files and report

Do I need to be present during the flight?

No. However, many clients like to be on-site for safety coordination or to discuss real-time observations.

Regulations & Safety

Is drone flying legal in my area?

We handle all FAA compliance, airspace authorizations (LAANC), and local regulations. You don’t need to worry about the legal side — we manage it.

How safe are drone operations?

Safety is our top priority. Our drones have advanced obstacle avoidance, and all flights follow strict safety protocols. We only fly in safe weather conditions.

Can you fly near airports or restricted airspace?

Yes — we regularly obtain the necessary authorizations and coordinate with air traffic control when required.
